FAQs

  • What is the process?

After we make contact, I will email or call you (if you prefer a call, let me know and leave your number)

to arrange a time for our free 20 minute video call. From there, you can decide if I'm the right fit for you, and if so, we can arrange a regular time for our video sessions. Sessions are weekly, two weekly, or monthly, depending on your needs.

  • Do I need to sit still?

No. You can do whatever you need to do to be comfortable in the session. This could include walking around, standing up, eating, or any form of stimming. You can attend calls from anywhere you feel comfortable, as long as the can remain confidential. I encourage the use of fidgets and comfort items, I may even use a blanket or toy myself in our sessions! There is no expectation to make eye contact, and you can even have your camera turned off if you prefer.

  • How can therapy help me?

This depends on your needs. It may be you need someone with experience to listen non-judgmentally, and support you in making sense of your experiences. Or perhaps more practical support, utilising skills, coping strategies and goals. This is something we can discuss in your first session.

  • Will you give me advice?

I may use my personal experience and professional learning as guidance, and offer ideas and support. But I won't generally advise you in which directions to follow; I will support you in fostering your own self guidance.

  • Do I have to delve into my past?

No. Sessions are lead by you, and I will never push you to discuss something you don't want to bring to the session.

  • Are sessions confidential?

Yes, our sessions are confidential. The exceptions are listed in the contract, whereby I may need to contact authorities or your GP. These are circumstances surrounding posing a danger to yourself, others, children, or involvements in terrorism or money laundering.

  • How long does it take?

The overall length of therapy differs for different individuals and their needs. I offer short and long term therapy. This is something we can discuss in your first session, but it can depend on what you intend to bring to therapy, your goals (if you have them), and your history.

  • How often do I need to see you?

Usually sessions are weekly or bi weekly. They can be less frequent, especially as time moves on and if someone feels this fits their needs more.

  • What happens if I need to stop?

You can stop therapy at any time, there is no pressure for you to continue. Sometimes people take breaks when they feel the time is right, and return at a later date.

  • What is the cost?

The cost is £55 per therapeutic hour (lasting between 50-55 minutes). I have space for some low cost sessions, contact me for details. If you feel that you may prefer shorter or longer sessions, we can discuss this before we begin.

  • I live outside of the UK, can you help?

I follow the framework of the NCPS. Other countries follow different frameworks, and varying legalities, policies and procedures apply. I therefor choose to work in the UK alone.

  • I am under 18, can you help?

I currently see clients of 18 years and over.

  • How do you use my data?

Any data collected via forms you fill out are stored confidentially and password protected. It will not be used for any reason other than to inform our sessions. It is kept after sessions finish for 8 years, as stipulated by insurance.
